“The next key to achieving your step goals is putting them on your agenda.”

Today we talk about organizing our calendar and planning our days.

What:

Using a calendar system to organize our days, weeks and months.

Why:

We are working on achieving our dreams and reaching our goals. To be successful we need to take action on a regular basis towards those goals. In order to make that happen we need to plan these actions and write them down.

How:

In the broad sense, we want to block out time every day to accomplish the thing s we need to do. To do this effectively we need to have an agenda for each day with our schedules set up for us. You need to have a tool to do this, I recommend using an electronic calendar tool like Google Calendar. These systems make it easier to set up recurring items. Pick the system that works best for you and start setting up your agenda. To set up your calendar follow these steps:

  • Start by blocking out time for your morning routine
  • Next enter your recurring routines like project reviews or accounts payable – things you need to do every week in the normal operation of your business.
  • Next look at your goals and your blueprint and block out time for Take Action goals – if you want to learn more about your industry then block out time each week for learning
  • Then break your day into segments by blocking out Project/Task Time – make these 45 minute to 1 hour blocks in your schedule – what you do during that time will be determined each morning
  • In between these blocks of time allow time to check emails and make phone calls
  • Add your family, community and self time to this agenda as well

Now that you have your calendar set up you can follow this agenda every day. Review it each morning after making your action item list. Add you To-Dos into the project time slots. (See my calendar below)

If you follow these steps and include action related to your goals you are 75% of the way to achieving those goals. The biggest hurdle to success is getting into the consistent routine of working towards those goals.

Take-Action Items:

  1. Get a calendar set up

  2. Review your agenda each day and follow it
