“Are you stuck on the cashflow rollercoaster, worrying each week how you will pay the bills and cover payroll? That’s about to change!”

Putting Profits First is about making profits a priority in your business. The #1 rule for Elite Contractors is Profit is the Reason. So, to become an Elite Contractor we need to make sure the we make profits the #1 priority of our business. We are not in business to make our suppliers money, if you want to do that become a sales rep for them.
“Taking the time to present change order proposals with the same effort that we put into our regular proposals will make the process much smoother and simplify the change order process.”
We will always face change orders on our projects, it’s the nature of construction. How we handle those change orders it what differentiates the Elite Contractors.
Proper change management protects our profits and our stakeholders.
Today we discuss the importance of properly managing change orders. As elite contractors we know that we must strive to solve problems better and this is one area where we can really shine. Taking the right approach to managing change orders can set us apart from the industry.
Today I discuss a topic I get questioned about all the time from my subcontractor clients, overhead costs versus job costs.
This usually comes up in a conversation about a change order on a project where the contract limits the allowable overhead percentages to 10% or 15%. The argument is always, “my overhead is more than 15%, I can’t make money on a change order with limits like this.”
It’s estimated that we spend 1 week to 1 month annually searching for files on our database or on our computers. If you look at a company with 10 employees that’s 800 hours on average and at $30 per hour that can equate to over $24,000 annually wasted searching for something.
Another bonus episode where I discuss the Elite Contractors Manifesto. In this bonus episode we look at Solve the Problem Better.
All businesses exist to solve a problem, as Elite Contractors we understand this and we work to solve the problem better than others.
In today’s episode we talk about the importance of planning some Me-Time. We all need time to reflect and work on our self improvement but we rarely take that time and make it a priority.
Are you?
In today’s episode we review one of my favorite tools for managing a project, the 3-Week Look Ahead Schedule. This simple tool can help you keep your projects running smooth and on schedule. Best of all, it only takes a small amount of time to keep it up to date and accurate.
Today we review the importance of having a project schedule and get into the basics of creating an accurate schedule for your projects.
